Ceramic oyster plate with six shell-form wells surrounding a central sauce well, glazed in a mottled, running brown glaze (tortoiseshell-style) over a cream ground. Molded shell wells with ribbed detail; ochre-glazed central well. Impressed numeral to reverse ("660") with painted X mark. Unmarked with maker's cartouche — attributed to a French provincial pottery workshop, likely mid-20th century.
Purchased at an antique shop in Saint-Malo, France.
