Simonet frères & Dieupart
A pair of French Art Deco pendant lights, circa 1925–1935. The fixtures in nickel-plated solid brass or bronze hold globe shades made of clear, frosted pressed glass. The geometric modernist marguerite design is featured consistently on both the glass globes and the bronze canopies. Both glass shades are signed Simonet Frères and Dieupart.
Simonet Frères was established in the 19th century as a producer of bronze gas lighting. Between 1920 and 1925, the company modernized and transitioned its production to the Art Deco style. They commissioned sculptor Henri Dieupart to design their custom glassware, including vases and lamp shades
The pendants have a height of 75 cm (29,5 inches) and the shades are 21,7 cm (8,54") in diameter. They are in excellent condition. Note that glass balls of Simonet always have four tiny holes drilled in the glass for the heat of incandescent light bulbs to escape. I have re-nickeled the mountings and the fixtures are rewired with an American standard socket each.
