An antique compote serving dish from renowned 19th century Parisian luxury firm, Escalier de Cristal in Pompadour Pink, a very popular color at the time. The stamp includes their second address which they moved to in 1872.
Founded around 1808 by the widow Désarnaud, the prestigious Escalier de Cristal was taken over by Pierre Isidore Lahoche and then by his partner, Émile Pannier, in 1863. In 1872, the shop moved to the new district built under the direction of Baron Haussmann around the Opéra. Émile Pannier's two sons, Georges and Henry, succeeded him in 1885. The shop closed its doors in 1923.
This dish is in fair condition as you can see some of the gilded gold has rubbed off, but there are no chips or cracks so pretty amazing condition for something this old!
Stands 5” high and 8.5” diameter.
