A delicate beaded inner border further enhances the refined craftsmanship, while the warm original water-gilded finish has developed a beautiful patina over more than 160 years, revealing subtle areas of red bole beneath the gold leaf that add depth, warmth, and authenticity.
The mirror retains its original mercury glass plate, exhibiting the soft reflection, light foxing, and gentle age-related sparkle so highly prized by collectors. The original paneled wooden back remains intact and is fitted with a later hanging wire for secure installation.
