This is a fantastic original limited edition etching and aquatint by listed Belgian-American artist Annette Robyns (1926-2008). Robyns studied painting in Paris under the renowned Modernist Fernand Léger before moving to Los Angeles, where she became an accomplished artist, printmaker, gallery owner, and instructor. Her work is known for its bold Modernist compositions and exceptional printmaking.
Titled "Self Portrait," this striking composition presents an abstracted female figure through layered geometric forms, organic motifs, and richly worked tonal passages. The image is highly personal and expressive, with dense linear detail and strong contrasts that give the portrait remarkable depth and presence. Printed on heavy fine art paper with a deep plate impression, this is an original limited edition etching and aquatint, not a reproduction.
The work is pencil signed, titled, and numbered 4/50 in the lower margin.
Condition: Good vintage condition. There are some light smudges and handling marks in the lower margin. Please review all photographs
Measurements: Plate mark is approx 17.75" x 16". Paper measures approx 27.5" x 19"
