This is a fantastic original limited edition etching and aquatint by listed Belgian-American artist Annette Robyns (1926-2008). Robyns studied painting in Paris under the renowned Modernist Fernand Léger before moving to Los Angeles, where she became an accomplished artist, printmaker, gallery owner, and instructor. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections and is known for its strong Modernist compositions and masterful printmaking.
Titled "Inner Journey," this striking abstract composition is a wonderful example of Robyns' mature style. The image combines bold geometric forms with rich tonal passages and intricate linear detail, creating a composition that is both powerful and contemplative. Printed on fine Arches paper with a deep plate impression, this is an original hand-pulled print, not a reproduction.
The work is pencil signed, titled, and numbered 3/75 in the lower margin.
Condition: Very good vintage condition on beautiful thick laid paper. The print presents beautifully with strong impression quality and wide margins.
Measurements: Plate mark is approx 18" x 14.5". Paper measures approx 26.25" x 22"

After her marriage to actor Donald Elson in 1961, she established the Robyns-Elson Gallery where she sold her works as well as those of other modernists. She exhibited with the Laguna Beach and Westwood Art Associations. Mrs. Elson died in Los Angeles on January 21, 1994. (Source: Edan Hughes)
