This is a lovely segmented parquetry lidded jar/canister. This studio art piece is estimated to be from the mid 20th century (60s/70s) and is made of spalted tamarind. It's likely origin is either Africa or the Far East and it is hand-turned using an advanced lathe technique, and has a distinctive tiered lid. It is "signed" with its studio mark on the bottom as well as the underside of the lid.
