The body … Read more A white glazed ceramic vase produced by Michielotto Top Design, Italy, in the 1980s, designed by Ambrogio Pozzi. The body is a rounded capsule form — generous, architectural, and deliberately simple — decorated on one face with a vertical band of hand-applied coloured ridges in pale blue, pink, crimson, grey and violet. The decoration is restrained but precise: five parallel raised lines of differing lengths and colours, positioned asymmetrically, in the postmodern idiom Pozzi brought to his ceramic work throughout the decade.
The base carries the original printed Michielotto Top Design Italy mark and the Ambrogio Pozzi signature label. No chips, cracks or restorations.
Ambrogio Pozzi (Varese, 1931–2012) was one of Italy's most significant industrial and ceramic designers, working across Rosenthal, Franco Pozzi, Rometti Umbertide and multiple Italian manufacturers. His postmodern ceramic work of the 1980s is increasingly collected.
