they designed it in 1940 at the request of florence knoll, who asked them for "a chair that will be like a basket filled with cushions." it was first produced in 1948. It is one of the first mass-produced armchairs, decidedly modern for its time!

this piece is a second edition, upholstered in mottled black wool.
