A beautifully proportioned art deco chandelier dating from the 1930s, executed in the spirit of european functionalism. The design is defined by its clean architectural lines, balanced geometry and restrained elegance, combining refined craftsmanship with a distinctly modern aesthetic that remains timeless nearly a century later. The chandelier features five beautifully shaped champagne color glass shades arranged symmetrically around a solid nickel-plated frame. A polished spherical finial beneath the central body enhances the sculptural quality of the design while maintaining the strict functionalist composition. One of the most remarkable features of this fixture is its sophisticated shade mounting system. Instead of the usual mounting method, each shade is secured using a specially designed bracket that grips the edge of the shade from the side, creating the impression that the shades hang effortlessly from the metal arms without any visible mechanical fasteners. This ingenious solution demonstrates the high level of technical design and craftsmanship characteristic of premium european lighting fixtures from the interwar period. The chandelier has been professionally restored. The nickel plating has been carefully refinished and is presented in outstanding condition with a deep, even lustre. The lampshades have small chips on their upper edges that are not visible when they are hung up. The entire fixture has been cleaned, serviced and professionally rewired, making it fully functional and ready for installation. A rare and highly decorative lighting fixture that perfectly represents the transition from decorative art deco to the clean, rational aesthetics of functionalism. Equally suitable for sophisticated contemporary interiors or period homes, it serves as both a functional light source and a sculptural statement piece.
