This armless version is the rarer, more architectural sibling to the better-known armed lounge chair. Its clean white powder-coated aluminum frame is exceptionally resilient to sun, salt air, wind and rain—exactly why these pieces have endured in Miami Beach, Palm Springs and coastal modernist homes for nearly sixty years. The signature vinyl-coated mesh seat and back provide excellent airflow and keep the sitter cool even in direct sunlight, while the taut, sculptural lines remain unmistakably mid-century.

The example we offer is an authentic period production chair (not a later re-issue) that has developed a slight, even patina and light discoloration to the mesh over decades of honest use. The discoloration is tasteful and consistent across the seat and back; no tears, holes or sagging. The frame is structurally sound with no bends, cracks or weld failures—ready for decades more enjoyment in a garden, terrace, poolside, sunroom or covered porch.

One of the most enduring and collectible outdoor designs of the twentieth century, the 1966 Collection is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum.

The chair is the perfect as a standalone accent for a small patio space.
