Offered is a unique and refined antique Chinese porcelain ink brush washer, dating from the late 19th century (Qing Dynasty). This scholar's object is distinguished by its unusual elongated, multi-lobed (quatrefoil-like) form and exquisite famille rose (fencai) enamel decoration.
The exterior of the bowl is encircled by a band of stylized green waves, providing a vibrant contrast to the white porcelain. The interior rim features a decorative border, leading down to a detailed pictorial scene. The central well depicts numerous figures, likely scholars or immortals, gathered in a garden setting with rocks, trees, and stylized clouds. The figures are rendered with expressive detail in a rich palette of pinks, greens, yellows, and blues.
The porcelain has a beautiful, aged glaze with minor imperfections and firing marks typical of its period.

Close inspection reveals only two very fine, stable hairline cracks on the interior rim of the bowl, which are minor and do not affect its integrity. The piece is accompanied by a custom-fitted, vintage dark wood display stand. The stand is stable and enhances the piece, but shows minor cosmetic wear, including a tiny chip on one of its carved feet. less
