Offered is a beautiful pair of original hand-colored botanical engravings from the celebrated Curtis's Botanical Magazine, published in London by renowned botanist William Curtis (1746–1799).
Published in 1798, these late-Georgian engravings exemplify the marriage of scientific accuracy and artistic elegance that made Curtis's Botanical Magazine one of the most influential botanical publications in history. Each engraving is delicately hand-colored and retains its original publication line:
"Pub. by W. Curtis, St. Geo. Crescent"
Dated March 1798 and July 1798.
The prints are professionally presented in elegant gilt wood frames with decorative marbled French mats and multiple archival mat layers that beautifully complement the soft palette of the engravings.
Their restrained colors and refined presentation make them equally suited to traditional interiors, English country homes, libraries, studies, garden rooms, or contemporary spaces seeking historic character.
A wonderful opportunity to acquire an authentic late 18th-century pair from one of the most celebrated botanical publications ever produced.
