An exceptional large signed studio art pottery globe-form vessel attributed to Byron & Alyse Sanders, created during the American studio pottery movement of the 1980s.
This impressive handcrafted ceramic work features a dramatic spherical form brought to life with expressive abstract brushwork in layered cobalt blue, teal, violet, magenta, copper, and metallic gold over a deep charcoal ground. The richly painted surface wraps continuously around the vessel, creating a dynamic composition that reveals new details and depth from every angle.
Unlike the artists' more commonly encountered functional pottery, this substantial 13-inch vessel possesses true sculptural presence and functions equally well as a statement decorative object or display vessel. Its bold painterly surface and Organic Modern aesthetic make it an outstanding addition to contemporary, Studio Craft, or curated art pottery collections.
The vessel is hand signed "Sanders" in white on the unglazed underside.

Condition
Excellent vintage condition. No cracks, chips, or repairs observed. The interior is clean, and the original hand-painted finish remains vibrant with layered jewel tones and metallic gold accents. There are a few tiny flecks of paint loss along portions of the rim and one or two very small scattered paint nicks consistent with age and careful handling. These minor imperfections do not detract from the overall presentation, and the vessel displays beautifully.
