So cool for your nautical decor! This may have been a salesman’s sample.
It is a small wood lobster trap. The top has a small twisting latch and I think the hinges are actually leather. It opens and it has real stone weights inside. The netting is torn and shows wear, adding to the charm, in my opinion. The wood also has lots of patina and character.
