Pieces of this artistic quality and with this extraordinary combination of materials are virtually unknown on today’s international market. The spherical shade is meticulously composed of individually selected translucent alabaster fragments, each carefully arranged within a hand-crafted leaded framework. When illuminated, the alabaster emits a remarkably warm, atmospheric glow that beautifully reveals its natural veining and subtle variations in color. The true highlight of this exceptional work of art is the incorporation of finely executed porcelain lithophanes. These remarkable porcelain plaques reveal delicate three-dimensional scenes only when backlit, creating an enchanting visual effect that has fascinated collectors for well over a century.
