A fine high-fired glazed ceramic jug featuring a central motif depicting a double-headed eagle, accompanied by polychrome floral motifs and brushstrokes of yellow, blue, and manganese brown. The piece features an ovoid body and a refined trilobate (or cartouche) mouth with an elegant twisted handle, crafted with two cords joined in a band. At the upper and lower junctions on the body of the vase, they open symmetrically to the right and left with a tasteful ornamental motif. In terms of style and craftsmanship, the jug, although unsigned, is fully attributable to the prestigious Central Italian manufacturer of Pesaro. Under the base is a paper cartouche with numbers and letters, likely traceable to a previous auction lot in which the jug was included. The object has a clear antique patina, particularly under the base, where exposed clay and consistent signs of wear on the glaze testify to its age, dating between the late 18th century and the very early 19th century.

In our online searches, we found several jugs similar in shape and iconography, all centered on the theme of the double-headed eagle, with auction prices ranging from €300-400 to €1,200-1,500. This provides an idea of ​​the value of similar objects. Among the auction lots we found, the example that most closely matches our jug ​​is the one that achieved one of the highest prices: it is the only piece that, like ours, bears a symbol resembling a "7" inscribed on the eagle's chest and displays the same blue transverse stripes on the base. It is lot number 517, titled "Majolica Jug, 18th Century," and was listed at €1,200-1,500 by the Cambi auction house in Genoa during its Live 125 sale ("Antiques and Old Master Paintings") held from February 28 to March 1, 2012.
