A rare boxing-style concert poster for a performance by Public Enemy with Fishbone, Living Colour and Stetsasonic at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Saturday 17th December 1988, in support of Public Enemy's breakthrough album "It Takes a Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back." The rap-meets-rock concert was a somewhat unsuccessful experiment to bring together black rock bands Fishbone and Living Colour with rap acts Public Enemy and Stetsasonic. "Though pleading for 'peace and togetherness,'" reported the Los Angeles Times, [Public Enemy] "performed in the guise of a paramilitary organisation backed by a five-member, uniformed and Uzi-toting drill team. And when fights broke out, tough-talking Public Enemy left the stage, after just half an hour and 3 1/2 songs." Printed by Colby Posters of Los Angeles for posting on telephone poles around the city.
Unfolded card stock, not backed. Minor bumps to corners and a few light nicks to edges. Image and colours excellent. Unframed. Will be shipped flat.
