Muller frères & la Lustrerie Bruxelloise
A rare 1925-1935 Franco-Belgian art deco lamp depicting peacocks. Made in nickel plated solid brass or bronze and clear frosted molded-pressed glass.
Both bowl and glass base are signed Muller. The glass factory Muller freres offered this combination of shades to lighting firms to produce lamps with bronze or wrought iron mounts. See last pictures from Muller freres product catalogs.
The lamp on offer was created by la Lustrerie Bruxelloise, a large lighting manufactory during the interbellum in Brussels. For most of its fixtures it used 'nacrocrystal' pressed glass shades produced by Val Saint-Lambert. But they also used Loys Lucha enamelled bowls to create pendant lights. And Muller peacock shades for sconces chandeliers pendants and this table lamp. The mount is stamped LB the foundry mark of Lustrerie Bruxelloise.
The lamp has a height of 42 cm (16,5"). The shade is some 36 cm wide (14"). And the glass ball of the base has a diameter of about 24 cm (9,5"). The lamp is in excellent condition consistent with age. The mount is re-nickeled and patinated. And the lamp is rewired with nice cloth covered twisted cord. It holds four American candelabra base sockets and comes with a US 2-prong plug.
