Luiz
A wonderful French art deco table lamp made around 1925-1930. A superb nickel plated bronze or solid brass base holds a shade in frosted acid engraved glass. It is signed Luiz. The lamp is 35,9 cm high and the shade has a diameter of 17,8 cm. That's 14,13 inches high and 7"wide. It is in very good condition. Several original and extreme small chips on the rim, part of the production process and no damages. I have re-nickeled the base and the lamp is rewired with an American candelabra base socket and US 2-prong plug.
I was never able to find any information about this Luiz. It must be the signature of either a designer or a shop in lighting fixtures. I do know for certain that it is French shade though. I saw a lamp with a glass acid-engraved panel once that was signed Luiz and was also marked Bté SGDG being a French type of patent that existed from 1844 till 1968.
