CHARLES SCHNEIDER - le verre Français
A rare 1923-1935 French art deco perfume burner or night lamp in wrought iron with a nice Schneider (Le Verre Français) mottled coloured acid-engraved cameo glass shade in cream and sky-blue overlaid with orange-red speckled with deep blue. This sought after model is called Papillons (Butterflies). Schneider made the first design around 1923-1926 and made vases table lamps perfume burners and chandeliers with this pattern.
The beautiful shade is held by the original Schneider mounting in wrought iron. Schneider employed a blacksmith and had his own forge on his compound in Epinay France. Here wrought iron mounts for vases were made as well as fixtures for night lamps perfume burners and chandeliers. The typical shape of the Schneider forged iron pieces is easy to recognize.
The lamp has a total height of 17,4 cm (6,85 inches). It is in excellent condition. The shade is signed le verre Français. The iron mount has a nice ebony colored patina. It is rewired with an American candelabra base socket base socket and US 2-prong plug.
