Traditionally, small Tabwa dolls are closely tied to the cult of twins. When one twin passes away, a carved figure is created to represent the lost child. This ritual doll is treated with the same tenderness as the surviving twin, fed, bathed, and lovingly cared for as though the deceased were still present. Kept beside the living twin, the doll preserves their spiritual bond and provides comfort to the family.
