In Zimbabwe all parts of the corn ear are utilized. The husks can be woven into ropes and twine, and molded into containers and mats. Shredded husks are used for kindling and stuffing, and when soaked in water, the brittle dried cornhusks become soft and malleable to be transformed into durable dolls suitable for children's toys.
This one-of-a-kind figurine is ethically and sustainably crafted by skilled Shona artisans.Â
