Louis xv period arbalète commode in fine wood marquetry, 18th century
this louis xv period arbalète commode, crafted in fine wood marquetry, is of exceptional quality. Dating from the mid-18th century, it features three large, intricately carved drawers at the front. The locks are original, and the gilt bronze drawer pulls and keyhole escutcheons are decorated with reliefs depicting female figures in oval frames with ribboned knots. The top and sides are also inlaid. The entire piece rests on a curved and shaped stretcher. The four cabriole legs terminate in animal motifs (birds of prey grasping eggs). The overall craftsmanship of this piece is truly remarkable.
