Published as plate 36 in alexandre m. Raymond's celebrated folio *l'art islamique en orient – iie partie*, the work belongs to one of the most important early twentieth-century surveys of islamic architecture and decorative arts in anatolia. The composition presents two finely measured studies executed at a scale of 1:100. The upper example displays a sophisticated arrangement of interlocking stars and polygons, while the lower panel introduces a monumental central rosette framed by delicate floral borders. Together, they demonstrate the extraordinary mastery of geometric design achieved during the formative years of ottoman architecture. Constructed during the early ottoman period, the green mosque of i̇znik represents an important link between seljuk artistic traditions and the emergence of a distinct ottoman visual language. The marble screens served both practical and symbolic purposes, filtering light and air while expressing ideals of harmony, infinity, and divine order through mathematical geometry.
