Issued as Plate 29 in Alexandre M. Raymond's monumental publication *L'Art Islamique en Orient – IIe Partie*, the sheet belongs to one of the most important early twentieth-century surveys of Ottoman and Islamic architecture in Anatolia. The composition combines a measured elevation of the original wooden entrance doors, rendered at a scale of 1:10, with two calligraphic panels reproduced at their natural size. The doors display refined geometric construction, iron fittings, and carefully proportioned recessed panels characteristic of early Ottoman woodworking. The accompanying inscriptions reveal the elegant integration of Arabic calligraphy and floral ornament that distinguished fifteenth-century decorative arts. Created in the same year as the conquest of Constantinople, these architectural elements reflect a pivotal moment in Ottoman history. Regional centers such as Bursa and İnegöl remained vital artistic and educational hubs, preserving traditions inherited from the Seljuks while shaping an increasingly distinctive Ottoman aesthetic. The balance between geometry, craftsmanship, and spirituality embodied in this sheet represents the essence of early Ottoman design. Alexandre M. Raymond devoted decades to documenting Islamic monuments throughout Turkey. His measured drawings continue to serve historians, architects, restorers, and collectors as authoritative visual records. The restrained monochromatic green palette lends this plate a quiet elegance and exceptional decorative quality. This print is entirely original and dates from 1924. It is sold unframed. Any framed images are provided for visual inspiration only. Condition: Good original condition with age-related toning, scattered foxing, light marginal staining, and minor handling wear consistent with age. The image itself remains clean and attractive, with excellent preservation of the fine printed details. Framing recommendations: The subtle green tones pair beautifully with a wide ivory museum mat and a dark walnut or ebonized frame inspired by traditional Ottoman interiors. Museum glass is recommended for conservation purposes. The horizontal composition makes the piece particularly suitable for libraries, studies, and interiors influenced by Islamic or Mediterranean design. See less
