Mid century Arne Jacobsen, swivel desk chair made teak model 3113, Fritz Hansen, 1960s The height swivel T-chair, model 3103, … Read more Mid century Arne Jacobsen, swivel desk chair made teak model 3113, Fritz Hansen, 1960s The height swivel T-chair, model 3103, was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1957 and developed in collaboration with Danish doctor and professor Eigill Snorrason. Snorrason was somewhat critical of the earlier curved wooden chairs Jacobsen had designed because they all did not provide good back support when in use. Jacobsen listened to the critics and designed this model, which is available both as a dining chair with four legs (model 3103) and as a office/desk version (model 3113) on a swivel base as in this case. In this example, the seat was made of teak in 1963. So it is an early version with the first generation base, which is much more elegant than the later models. The nickname "T-chair" comes of course from the T-shaped backrest. The seat also has an almost octagonal shape. The chair is in very good, untouched vintage condition with light normal signs of wear consistent with age and use.
