Rowing boats struggle against powerful seas as a harpooned whale erupts dramatically from the water, while a steam vessel looms in the background. Executed after a design by Édouard Traviès and engraved by Beyer, the print was published by Furne in Paris around 1840. It exemplifies the period's fascination with maritime adventure and the global whaling industry, combining documentary detail with exceptional artistic flair. Presented and sold unframed. Framed images are for inspiration only and not always to scale. Condition: Minor age wear, light toning, and occasional spotting consistent with age.
