Any framed images are provided for visual inspiration only. : an original architectural lithograph depicting the magnificent mihrab of the turbé (mausoleum) of çelebi sultan mehmed i in bursa, completed in 1421. This remarkable plate forms part of alexandre m. Raymond’s monumental publication *l’art islamique en orient – iie partie*, among the most important early twentieth-century surveys of islamic and ottoman decorative arts. The composition presents one of the masterpieces of early ottoman ceramic and architectural ornament. Richly adorned with qur'anic inscriptions, geometric borders, floral arabesques, and luminous turquoise and cobalt tilework, the mihrab exemplifies the refined aesthetic developed in bursa during the formative years of the ottoman empire. The tomb of sultan mehmed i—known as çelebi mehmed, the ruler who reunified the empire after the ottoman interregnum—stands among bursa's most significant monuments. Its celebrated green tomb (yeşil türbe) remains one of the greatest achievements of fifteenth-century islamic architecture. Raymond’s plate preserves these decorative details with exceptional precision while maintaining the artistic elegance characteristic of the original publication. Soft celadon, turquoise, and muted earth tones create an atmospheric image that appeals equally to collectors of islamic art, architectural historians, designers, and admirers of ottoman heritage. The intricate calligraphy and layered ornament make this one of the most visually compelling plates from the series. Original examples from *l’art islamique en orient* are increasingly scarce on the market and remain highly desirable for both private collections and institutional holdings. Condition: good antique condition with age-appropriate toning, scattered foxing, minor handling marks, and slight edge wear consistent with a century of age. Colors remain delicate and attractive. Please refer to photographs, which form part of the condition . Framing recommendations: sold unframed. We recommend a dark walnut or ebonized frame with a wide ivory museum mat and uv-protective glazing. The restrained presentation complements the subtle palette while emphasizing the remarkable intricacy of the ottoman tile decoration. Framed images, if shown, are for inspiration only.
