An exceptional and collectible early french art glass perfume bottle, titled "fleurs de france", designed by the legendary rené lalique for the prestigious perfume house d’orsay circa 1919.
this bottle stands as a milestone in early 20th-century luxury packaging design. Created just after the first world war, its elegant, clean aesthetic beautifully foreshadows and almost antedates the high art deco style that would dominate the global stage in the following decade.
historically significant, the bottle was produced at lalique’s early glassworks—most likely in combs-la-ville—just before his immense success led to the opening of his larger manufacturing facility in wingen-sur-moder.
while the "fleurs de france" bottle was utilized for various d’orsay fragrances, this specific piece is an extraordinary find as it still retains its original, highly decorative paper label for the scent "charme d'orsay".
the piece is authentically marked on the underside of the base, signed in the mold with "r. Lalique".
this historic collaboration is fully documented and authenticated in the definitive standard reference work:
félix marcilhac, r. Lalique: catalogue raisonné de l'œuvre de verre, la quatrième édition, les éditions de l'amateur, paris, 1994, ref. N° d'orsay - 16, page 943. This piece has an attribution mark,
