Rare original advertising illustration from a Berliet catalogue printed by the prestigious Draeger Printing House in 1907.
This illustration depicts an elegant Berliet automobile set against a backdrop inspired by London, as indicated by the inscription on the artwork. It is part of a series created to promote Berliet automobiles through various major cities and countries around the world. We also offer five additional illustrations from the same series, each featuring a different destination, allowing collectors to assemble a remarkable decorative and historical set.
The illustration was designed by René Vincent (1879–1936), one of the foremost French illustrators of the early 20th century, renowned for his automotive posters and collaborations with leading automobile manufacturers. His refined, dynamic style played a significant role in shaping the image of the French luxury automobile.
Founded in Lyon in 1901 by Marius Berliet, Berliet quickly established itself as one of France's leading manufacturers of luxury automobiles before becoming an internationally recognized name in the field of industrial vehicles.
Printed by the renowned Draeger Printing House, celebrated for the exceptional quality of its craftsmanship, this illustration is a valuable testament to the early years of the French automobile industry and the golden age of advertising illustration.
The piece is presented in a wooden frame under glass. The frame shows minor chips and signs of age and use, as visible in the photographs, but these do not detract from the quality or presentation of the illustration.
