Its top … Read more A stunning 19th-century French enfilade, made in the Empire style with finely crafted mahogany and gilt bronze accents. Its top is made from a single piece of black marble, speckled with tiny grey and white inclusions. Beneath it are three drawers that open with concealed cupped handles along their bottoms. The original locking mechanisms remain intact, but their key has been lost to time. The cabinets below the drawers have smooth fronts, which allows the beauty of the mahogany to take center stage. Inside the cabinets are single adjustable shelves measuring 13 ½” deep. To frame the bottom cabinets are two doric columns, carved from mahogany in full relief and adorned with gilt bronze capitals and bases. The bases of these columns continue downward to form the rounded feet that support the piece. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this enfilade is ready for use as a storage cabinet or buffet in your home. Light scratches and wear on the marble top, consistent with age and use. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
