Published in 1924 in Alexandre M. Raymond's important folio L'Art Islamique en Orient – IIe Partie, the print records architectural details dating to approximately 1420, when the Green Mosque complex was constructed under Sultan Mehmed I. The composition presents a richly ornamented window framed by Arabic inscriptions, geometric borders, and finely executed vegetal arabesques. Above the window, an elegant pointed arch encloses an intricate decorative panel combining floral ornament with calligraphic elements. The carefully balanced geometry and subtle palette of pale green-grey tones demonstrate the sophistication of early Ottoman decorative design and the close relationship between architecture, calligraphy, and ornament in Islamic art. The Yeşil Camii remains one of the most significant monuments of Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire. Its architecture and decoration mark a formative period in Ottoman artistic development, blending Seljuk traditions with emerging Ottoman styles. Raymond's folio was created to document and preserve these remarkable architectural achievements, making each plate both a scholarly record and a decorative work of art. The restrained coloration and elegant architectural composition allow this print to integrate beautifully into contemporary interiors while retaining its historical character. It appeals equally to collectors of Islamic art, Ottoman architecture, architectural drawings, decorative arts, and historic Turkish subjects. This is an original 1924 chromolithograph, not a reproduction. We sell the print unframed. Any framed images are shown for presentation and interior inspiration only. Condition: Good antique condition with age-related toning, minor handling wear, and light foxing consistent with age. The image remains clean and attractive with strong decorative appeal. Please study the images carefully. Framing tips: Particularly attractive in a dark walnut, ebonized, or antiqued gilt frame with a warm ivory museum mat. The subtle green-grey tones pair beautifully with both modern and traditional interiors. Technique: Chromolithograph Maker: Alexandre M.
