This is a wonderful Edwardian walnut bureau desk that has a timeless period charm. Circa 1910.
A handsome original Edwardian example of a 'Pratts of Bradford', with the original plaque to the backside.
Displaying a rich, warm walnut patination that add character to the home setting.
with a gorgeous walnut inlaid drop front that has a key, to keep the interior locked safely.
The fall front is held open by two lower wooden supports.
Opening the interior reveals the writing desk, and a fitted interior consisting of two smaller drawers, finished with button metal handles. The interior also has six pigeon holes, and a central door area useful for storing documents and papers. The central door is flanked by two visual columns to either side.
The interior door also has a key to keep any documents inside safe.
To the front of the desk there is an inlaid smaller upper drawer, above three lower larger graduating inlaid drawers.
All of the drawers are finished with striking metal drop handles.
Standing proudly on four solid bracket feet.
Overall this walnut bureau is in great antique condition, with quality signs of general use and veneer wear, as to be expected from historical age (See photographs).
There are 3 signs of veneer damage to the front of the bracket feet, and signs of historical veneer damage to the back left foot, but this has no structural affect (see photograph).
