Pierre d'Avesn for Lorrain Daum
A French art deco mushroom lamp in pressed glass made around 1925-35.
The lamp was made by Lorrain verrerie de belle étoile. This model is never signed and represented in the old Lorrain product catalog. The lamp is 13,54 inches (34,4 cm) high. And the shade is 6,89 inches (17,5 cm) in diameter. The lamp is in very good condition. The bronze mount has its original nickel plating which turned mat and grey over time. At the back the shade has a small chip on the rim. The lamp is rewired with cloth covered twisted cord. And heat resistant wire on the inside of the base. It holds two American candelabra base sockets. I have two of these lamps available. This sale is for one lamp only. The other lamp (without chip) is listed in a second ad.
Shipping to the USA: I send my parcels with Dutch post PostNL - incoterm DDP (delivered duty paid) so no additional duties or tariffs for the receiver. Parcels are distributed in the States by USPS. Free shipping offered.

On Lorrain: In 1926 the famous Daum glass manufacturers opened a new plant in the village of Croismare near Luneville. A year later it started a production of pressed glassware. The new company 'Les Verreries d'Art Lorrain" merged with the one Daum already owned in this village "Les verreries de belle étoile". For these plants the Daum company employed the well known designer Pierre d'Avesn , who till that time worked for René Lalique, as its artistic director. d'Avesn stayed in office till the Lorrain branch closed down in 1934. Some prestigious Lorrain models like this lamp were signed P.d'Avesn. After the bankruptcy of Lorrain d'Avesn became the director of the Hanots/Verlys glass manufactory of the Holophane company.
