This sculptural bench from rural China is shaped from a single, continuous piece of elmwood. By controlling its growth as a young sapling, an elm tree was shaped with forked branches that look remarkably like the splayed legs of a traditional courtyard bench. As much a sculpture as it is a narrow seat, we love its organic, asymmetrical form and uncanny sense of movement - as though it's about to walk away.
