Original work created in 1998 by the french sculptor rené broissand (1928–2019), born in 1928 and based in annecy, where he spent the majority of his artistic career. This coffee table perfectly illustrates the intersection of contemporary sculpture and art furniture, a discipline in which the artist distinguished himself thanks to his immediately recognizable visual language.
entirely crafted from welded, hammered, and patinated metal, its structure comprises four cylindrical uprights topped with massive spheres supporting a thick glass top. Beneath this, a remarkable network of hand-forged and welded metal branches evokes an interlacing of roots, roots, or plants. This free and organic approach constitutes the artistic signature of rené broissand, whose creations deliberately blur the lines between sculpture and furniture.
the piece boasts a beautiful original patina, a testament to the artist's craftsmanship and lending it a strong sculptural presence while maintaining a visual lightness thanks to the glass top.
this table is a true collector's item, ideal for both lovers of french design and collectors of late 20th-century sculptural furniture.

about rené broissand
born in 1928 and deceased in 2019, rené broissand settled in annecy, where he developed an artistic universe deeply inspired by nature. A self-taught artist, he learned metalwork before creating a personal style in which sculpture, wrought ironwork, and furniture became one. His work is instantly recognizable for its organic compositions inspired by branches, roots, plants, and animal forms, crafted entirely from welded, forged, and patinated metal.
throughout his career, he has created monumental sculptures, lighting fixtures, consoles, tables, mirrors, and numerous exceptional pieces of furniture, often unique or produced in very limited quantities. His work has been exhibited in france and internationally and is now featured in many private collections. In 2009, he was named a knight of the order of arts and letters, recognizing his entire body of work and his contribution to french decorative arts.
his creations regularly appear in specialized galleries and international auctions dedicated to 20th-century design, where they are particularly appreciated for their craftsmanship, sculptural character, and rarity.
