A fine and beautifully preserved art deco opalescent glass vase entitled "piriac" by rené lalique. Designed circa 1930 and crafted in wingen-sur-moder (france), this elegant vessel features a deeply molded frieze of stylized fish and cresting waves, displaying a remarkably strong and vibrant opalescence.
this fine "piriac" vase is an iconic example of art deco design by the legendary french master rené lalique. Introduced circa 1930 and produced at his celebrated glassworks in wingen-sur-moder, france, the vase captures lalique’s unmatched ability to translate the fluid beauty of nature into geometric art deco forms.
the lower body of the flared vessel is decorated with a beautifully sculpted, continuous frieze depicting a stylized procession of swimming fish riding cresting waves. This specific piece is a particularly fine example, boasting an exceptionally strong and rich opalescence that beautifully shifts between fiery milky tones and cool blues under different lighting.
note on photography: to provide the most accurate impression of the glass's natural fire and quality, please refer to the photograph taken outdoors on a gray day, which captures its unmanipulated luminous depth perfectly.
the vase features a crisp and authentic wheel-cut signature beneath the base: "r.lalique france".
