The chest shows a warm patina developed through generations of use, giving it a rich and timeworn look. Dovetail joinery and wood pegs in place of nails reflect the craftsmanship of the period. The gently domed top shows typical age related separation of planks, while scratches, scuffs, and stains throughout add to the authentic worn character of the trunk. Signs of old dried wormhole activity are seen along the top and back, though no longer active. A horizontal crack runs along the back but does not impact function. Wrought iron side handles allow for easier transportation. Restored, strong and stable, this handsome Swedish chest is ready to use and enjoy.
