Pierre Maynadier
A wonderful French art deco lamp by Maynadier made around 1925-1930. The nickel-plated bronze or solid brass base holds a shade in clear frosted molded pressed glass.
Pierre Maynadier had a manufactory producing art deco lighting during the interbellum in Paris (25 rue Saint-Sébastien). Nowadays most known for his beautifully designed bronze fixtures Pierre Maynadier made lights with wrought iron mounts as well. In the late 30s they started to produce lighting in pressed brass in a modernist style. After the war the son of Pierre took over and the grandson after him. The firm finally closed its doors in 1966.
The shade on this model lamp is never signed. It was produced for Maynadier by the glass factory of Muller frères. I show a picture of an old Maynadier product catalog representing the lamp as well as one of a Muller freres catalog that shows the shade.
The lamp is 11,8 inches (30 cm) high. The shade has a diameter of 5,8 inches (14,7 cm). The lamp is in very good condition. The bronze base has its original nickel plating that turned satin mat over the years. I rewired the lamp with new twisted rayon covered cord, new plug and switch. It is now equipped with an American candelabra base socket.
