This is a lovely antique porcelain serving bowl or platter featuring a delicate hand-painted bird and blossoming branch motif in the Japanese aesthetic. The softly scalloped, organic shape and lightly molded rim are accented with fine gilt trim, giving the piece an elegant and refined appearance.
The decoration depicts colorful songbirds perched among flowering branches, reminiscent of late 19th- to early 20th-century Japanese export porcelain inspired by traditional Kutani and Imari decorative themes. The underside appears to bear an impressed mark along with hand-painted inventory numbers, suggesting it was part of a retailer’s stock or collection.
