Charles Schneider - Le Verre Français
A wonderful French art deco hanging fixture in wrought iron with a nice Schneider Le Verre Français bowl in mottled coloured acid-engraved cameo glass. Made in the 20s. This model is called Raisins (Grapes). Charles Schneider designed this pattern between 1918 and 1920. The bowl is signed Le Verre Français. Schneider made vases chandeliers table and night lamps with this Raisins pattern but it is a rare and hard to find model. I show a picture of a Raisins vase from the standard book Charles Schneider, le Verre Français - Charder - Schneider by Joulin and Maier page 98.
The beautiful shade is held by the original Schneider fixture in wrought iron. Schneider employed a blacksmith and had his own forge on his compound in Epinay France. Where wrought iron mounts for vases were made as well as fixtures for night lamps perfume burners and chandeliers. The typical shape of the Schneider forged iron pieces is easy to recognize.
The pendant light has a total height of 24,8 inches (63 cm) and the glass bowl has a diameter of 15,9 inches (40,5 cm). Contact me if you want the chandelier to have another height. The pendant light is in very good condition. One small shallow chip on the rim hidden by the mount. The ceiling light is rewired with three American candelabra base sockets.
