Three rolls of new-old-stock, unopened Piero Fornasetti "Tema e Variazioni" (Themes and Variations) wallpaper by Cole & Son of London, depicting the many variations of the face of Fornasetti's muse, opera singer Lina Cavalieri. Purchased around 2010 and never opened, each roll still retains its original seal and serial number. The color is a soft, pale green, as shown. Dreamy and gently surreal, this long-discontinued paper is a wonderful find for a powder room, an entry, a single statement wall, or the back of a bookcase or cabinet — and equally collectible left sealed as it is.

Historical Context
Cole & Son's "Tema e Variazioni" wallpaper, featuring the iconic face of opera singer Lina Cavalieri, appeared in the early 2000s during the collaboration between Cole & Son and Atelier Fornasetti, and was discontinued around 2011 — since become a sought-after collector's item. The motif has deep roots: Piero Fornasetti was captivated by Cavalieri's face in a nineteenth-century French magazine and created more than five hundred variations of it over his lifetime, a selection of which this paper reproduces.
