They … Read more A pair of armchairs designed by Lucian Ercolani and produced by the renowned British manufacturer Ercol during the 1960s. They are an excellent example of post-war British modernism, where Scandinavian-inspired simplicity is combined with exceptional craftsmanship and timeless functionality. Their gently reclining silhouette, elegant armrests and finely balanced proportions give the chairs a remarkably light appearance despite their generously upholstered seats.

The frames are crafted from solid elm and beech, two woods closely associated with Ercol's most celebrated designs. Elm provides the distinctive grain and warm colour, while beech adds strength and long-term durability to the structural elements. The beautifully steam-bent components and carefully executed traditional joinery reflect the exceptional level of craftsmanship for which Ercol became internationally known.

The chairs are preserved in their original, good condition with traces of use in the form of scratches and abrasions visible in the photos.
