A French art deco hanging fixture in gild bronze with a Gallé bowl in acid-engraved cameo glass. Model feuilles d'érable (red maple leaves). It is signed Gallé. It is signed twice. Acid-etched both in the burgundy red as well as in the light yellow part of the bowl. The chandelier was made around 1925. Between 1920 and 1931 to be precise. The bronze mounting was made by Hettier & Vincent. As large Parisian producer of art deco lighting during the interbellum. As their old product catalogs show Louis Hettier & Calixte Vincent made pendant lights with acid-etched cameo bowls of Muller Daum and Gallé. The bronze mounting was gilded as can be seen on the three brass chains. But only traces of the plating remained on the bronze canopy and the three hooks that hold the glass bowl. The pendant light has a total height of 27,16 inches (69 cm) and the glass bowl has a diameter of 15,35" (39 cm). The chandelier is in very good condition. It is rewired with three American candelabra base sockets.

In 1877 Émile Gallé (1846-1904) took over the glass manufactory of his father Charles (86 boulevard Jean-Jaurès, Nancy France). The talented glass artist and furniture designer Émile was one of the founders of the École de Nancy. In 1904 his widow Henriëtte Grimm and son in law Paul Pedrizet continued the company till it closed its doors in 1931. See less
