A French art deco lantern in wrought iron with a nice Schneider Le Verre Français bowl in mottled coloured acid-engraved cameo glass. Made in the 20s. This model is called Fougères (Ferns). Charles Schneider designed it between 1927 and 1928. The shade is signed Charder. Schneider made vases chandeliers table and night lamps with this Fougères pattern. I show a picture from the standard book Charles Schneider, le Verre Français - Charder - Schneider by Joulin and Maier page 165.
The beautiful shade is held by the original Schneider fixture in wrought iron. Schneider employed a blacksmith and had his own forge on his compound in Epinay France. Where wrought iron mounts for vases were made as well as fixtures for night lamps perfume burners and chandeliers. The typical shape of the Schneider forged iron pieces is easy to recognize.
The pendant light has a total height of 32,85 inches (83,5 cm) and the glass bowl has a height of 11,22" (28,5 cm) and a diameter of 8,46" (21,5 cm). Contact me if you want the lantern to have another height. The pendant light is in excellent condition. The shade is without chips or cracks and the iron mount has a nice patina. It is rewired with an American standard socket.
