Charles Schneider - Le Verre Français
A petit and very rare French art deco pendant light in wrought iron with a Schneider bowl in mottled orange coloured glass with marble pattern. Made in the mid 20s. The bowl has a diameter of 9,84 inches (25 cm). It is signed Schneider written in the fluid glass paste before it cooled down. The pendant light has a total height of 21,65" (55 cm). It is in excellent condition. The shade is without chips or cracks and the iron mount has a nice patina. It is rewired with an American standard socket.
I show a picture from the standard book Charles Schneider, le Verre Français - Charder - Schneider by Joulin and Maier page 302. Showing two vases with similar marble effect. The shade is held by the original Schneider fixture in wrought iron. Schneider employed a blacksmith and had his own forge on his compound in Epinay France. Where wrought iron mounts for vases were made as well as fixtures for night lamps perfume burners and chandeliers. The typical shape of the Schneider forged iron pieces is easy to recognize.
