Handcrafted in France circa 1970, this 11-inch stoneware charger showcases the brothers' mastery of complex, multi-textured glazing techniques and stands as a premier example of European brutalist decorative art.

The face of the plate features an extraordinary abstract composition. The center is dominated by a rich, pool-like crawl/crackle glaze in deep teal and blue, evoking an organic landscape or volcanic pool. This central design is brilliantly framed by a heavily textured, hand-combed ochre and brown slipware border that creates a striking faux-bois (woodgrain) or topographical effect.
