Georges Leleu
A beautiful French 1935 art deco flush mount by the famous Paris based company of Georges Leleu (1879-1946). He founded the company Leleu & Robillard by the turn of the century. At rue du Faubourg saint-Antoine in Paris. After the first world-war the business partner or investor Robillard left the firm which continued as Etablissement Georges Leleu. It closed down in the late 30s.
The mount in nickel plated bronze or solid brass holds a spectacular shade in clear frosted blown glass. This model shade is never signed. The mounting shows the usual foundry initials LR (for Leleu et Robillard). A similar model is represented in the 1935 Leleu product catalog. The ceiling lamp is 7,28 inches (18,5 cm) high and 15 inches (38 cm) in diameter (15" long and 14" deep). It is in very good condition. The mounting is re-nickeled. I rewired it with three American candelabra base sockets.
I have two of these Leleu ceiling lights available.
