PIERRE MAYNADIER
A wonderful pair of French art deco lamps by Maynadier made around 1925-1935. The nickel-plated bronze or solid brass bases hold shades in clear frosted molded pressed glass.
Pierre Maynadier had a manufactory producing art deco lighting during the interbellum in Paris (25 rue Saint-Sébastien). Nowadays most known for his beautifully designed bronze fixtures Pierre Maynadier made lights with wrought iron mounts as well. In the late 30s they started to produce lighting in pressed brass in a modernist style. After the war the son of Pierre took over and the grandson after him. The firm finally closed its doors in 1966.
The shade on this model lamp is never signed. It was produced for Maynadier by the glass factory of Muller frères. I show a picture of the 1930 Maynadier product catalog in which both the shade and the bronze base are represented.
The height of the lamps is 13,78 inches (35 cm) and they are 5,2 inches (13,2 cm) long. The shades are 5,7" (12 cm) wide. The pair is in very good condition. They are re-nickeled and patinated. The lamps are rewired with cloth covered twisted cord. And now hold an American candelabra base one and a US 2-prong plug each.
